Zambia ranks as one ofthe most deforested countries on earth.
Deforestation in Zambia has cost the country 250, 000 hectares of Forest per year. According to a 2003 report on forests in Zambia by Mbindo Keddy published by the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO), forests in Zambia are being cut or destroyed by people without a clear knowledge of all the consequences and without a commitment to sustainable use – “it’s a great concern that forests in many parts of the country are disappearing” states the report.
